Jo Koy's first time hosting the Golden Globes did not seem to go over well with the stars in the room and audiences on social media.
Koy began the 2024 ceremony with an opening monologue referencing Hollywood's Ozempic craze and weaving in jokes about films up for nomination.
The stand-up comedian likened Barry Keoghan's penis in "Saltburn" to Bradley Cooper's prosthetic nose in "Maestro," joked that "Oppenheimer" needed to be "another hour" and called "Barbie" a movie about "a plastic doll with big boobies," the latter of which was met with unamused stares from Margot Robbie and the film's director Greta Gerwig.

"It was kind of weird being attracted to a plastic doll," Koy added as he turned to "Barbie" star Ryan Gosling. "It's just something about your eyes, Ryan."
Koy seemed to realize some of the jokes were falling flat. "I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. You're kidding me, right?" he quipped to the audience.

"Slow down, I wrote some of these and they are the ones you are laughing at," he added of the jokes.
Perhaps the biggest blunder of the night came when Koy joked about Taylor Swift. "As you know, we came on after a football double header. The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL. On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift, I swear," he said.
Swift seemingly didn't react, sipping her drink and appearing nonplussed.
"Sorry about that," Koy replied.

Fans on social media have been roasting Koy on social media throughout the evening.
"Jesus i aged 15 years during that monologue i've never been so happy to see jared leto," one X user wrote. "I don't mean to sound dramatic but this Golden Globes host is the worst host I've ever seen, which is saying something coming from a man who was on a show hosted by Julie Chen," Andy Herren from "Big Brother" added.
One person posted a moment from "Barbie" in which Robbie's character asks, "Do you guys ever think about dying?"

Other people suggested Amy Poehler and Tina Fey resume their previous post as Golden Globes hosts or suggested alternate options.
"Missing them right about now," an X user wrote along with a photo of Poehler and Fey. Another joked, "Never send a man to do a woman's job #GoldenGlobes."
"Just go full chaos and let Katt Williams host the #GoldenGlobes," The Blacklist founder Franklin Leonard wrote, presumably referring to Katt Williams' recent viral interview on "Club Shay Shay."
Another fan suggested "Fire Island" stars Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers could have done the job. "Were they busy?" they tweeted along with a photo of the duo.
